Leading Sustainability, Achieving New Milestones! Coretronic Honorably Earned 2025 National Enterprise Environmental Protection Award-Silver Award
Coretronic (5371.TW) was recognized today at the “2025 National Enterprise Environmental Protection Award” ceremony held by the Ministry of Environment on September 10. Among 125 participating sustainable companies, Coretronic stood out and was awarded the Silver Award by Minister Chi-Ming Peng of the Ministry of Environment. After the ceremony, the Company’s representative visited the Office of the President to meet Vice President Bi-Khim Hsiao, recognizing Coretronic’s outstanding achievements in sustainable transformation and environmental protection.
In response to the global dynamics and the green transformation, Coretronic continuously deepens climate governance and actively promotes climate adaptation actions to reduce negative environmental impacts and comprehensively improve organizational climate resilience. The Company has adopted the TCFD framework and completed the identification of climate-related risks and opportunities. For risks and opportunities that are high-impact and short-term, the Company has developed and implemented response strategies. Furthermore, to ensure that operational activities do not damage biological habitats and to reduce dependence on and consumption of natural resources, the biodiversity risk assessment was implemented in 2024 to systematically analyze the “dependency” and “impact” of each operational site on ecosystems, advancing toward the long-term goal of achieving a net positive impact, no net loss, and no gross deforestation by 2050. In terms of international initiatives, the Company has set carbon reduction targets based on the SBT 1.5℃ scenario and approved by the SBTi. Additionally, Coretronic has responded to the CDP questionnaire for six consecutive years, and received “A” leadership level ratings for both “Climate Change” and “Water Security” categories in 2024. Coretronic also joined the Taiwan Climate Partnership (TCP) and the Taiwan Alliance for Net Zero Emission (TANZE). In 2024, the Company earned the “Silver Net Zero Label” from TANZE, recognizing its firm commitment and tangible progress in sustainable development.
Coretronic established the Environmental Protection Committee in 2015 and subsequently formed the Sustainable Energy Committee in 2021. These committees are responsible for promoting net-zero strategies, energy transition plans, and measures aligned with international initiatives, leading various environmental actions to gradually achieve the Company’s annual reduction targets. Coretronic continuously improves its energy efficiency through the ISO 50001 Energy Management System and implements multiple carbon reduction initiatives, such as ESCO projects, replacement of outdated chillers, optimization of variable-frequency air compressors, LED lighting upgrades, and installation of outdoor solar-powered streetlights. In alignment with the RE100 and EV100 initiatives, Coretronic has committed to using 100% renewable energy by 2040. The Company had completed the installation of solar power generation systems in Taiwan and China plants by 2024, along with digital dashboards displaying real-time green electricity data to raise employee awareness of renewable energy usage. Furthermore, Coretronic reduces fossil fuel consumption, drives low-carbon innovation, purchases green power certificates, sources renewable energy via power wheeling, and adopts environmental and energy management systems to steadily progress toward its net-zero vision.
In terms of product sustainability transformation, Coretronic has established the Sustainable Raw Material Policy, embedding low-carbon principles into its product development technologies and manufacturing processes. The Company has established clear strategies and quantitative targets for each stage of the product life cycle and conducting self-assessment and ISO 14067 product carbon footprint inventories, and has built a product carbon footprint platform to analyze emission structures, increase the use of low-carbon materials, and optimize product design and manufacture, strengthening the sustainability competitiveness of its products. Meanwhile, Coretronic continues to strengthen sustainable supply chain management by setting relevant strategies and goals. Suppliers are required to sign the Sustainability Commitment Statement, complete environmental risk questionnaires related to Environmental Management System, undergo RBA audits and training, and participate in the annual supplier conference, sustainability seminars, and the Supplier Circularity Alliance. These actions enable effective control of supply chain sustainability risks and ensure the implementation of a responsible supply chain.
Looking ahead, Coretronic will center its core strategies on “Climate Governance, Low-Carbon Technology, and Sustainable Value Chain”. The Company is committed to driving transformation with green technology and innovative thinking, actively implementing climate risk management and carbon reduction initiatives. Also, the Company will further strengthen the integration of sustainability strategies into its daily operations, continuously deepen its renewable energy deployment, actively expand innovative carbon reduction solutions, respond to the global sustainable development initiative, work with stakeholders to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and exert the positive influence of enterprises on society and the environment!
