Coretronic Corporation announce set up a 100% subsidiary, Coretronic MEMS Corp.

In order to master the key technologies of cross-domain innovation application of new technology solutions, Coretroinc (5371) announced it has established a 100% holding subsidiary, Coretronic MEMS Corp. (CMC) at the end of July. And in the beginning of September, CMC further completed the acquisition of MEMS (Microelectromechanical Systems) business of Global MEMS Corp. (GMEMS). CMC is mainly engaged in the R&D, manufacturing and sales of MEMS devices, modules and solutions, and positions as MEMS sensor solutions provider. GMEMS is a MEMS IC design house, the R&D team has been dedicated in MEMS sensor technology and products for many years. GMEMS’s key development products include Industrial 4.0 vibration/pressure sensors, MEMS microphones, barometers, ultrasonic sensors, etc., and has a comprehensive synergy with the industrial 4.0 sensor, MEMS auto-focus, and LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) that Coretronic Group is expected to develop, and has potential for future development.

Established in 2013, GMEMS is a niche-based, project development oriented MEMS IC design house. The R&D team has many years of experience in MEMS design, with piezoresistive/piezoelectric (PZT) MEMS and ASIC technology platforms and development capabilities, and with the complete MEMS production system, can provide complete MEMS module products and solutions. GMEMS has about 21 employees currently, including 10 R&D.

“In recent years, the penetration rate of MEMS in consumer electronics applications such as smart phones and tablets has rapidly increased. The major supplier include Broadcom, BOSCH, STMicroelectronics, and Texas Instruments. MEMS sensors used for data detection at the bottom of the IoT, linking to the data processor will generate big data for a wider range of analysis applications, including Industry 4.0, smart home, smart sports, wearable devices, smart manufacturing and smart cities. These applications generate a lot of demand and expected to have great growth potential.” said Ms. Sarah Lin, President of Energy Saving Product Business Group of Coretronic and Chairman of CMC. “Based on MEMS technology, CMC provides MEMS sensor applications and solutions to customers. In the future, CMC will jointly develop related application modules and solutions with R&D teams of Coretronic Group and combined the Cloud Services/Smart Robots/MR and other technologies to play a synergy.” said Sarah Lin.
