Coretronic Reality Inc. Partners with Phoenix Technologies to Launch UEFI BIOS-Enabled Next-Gen SOM Platform, Accelerating AIoT and Industrial Computing Adoption
Coretronic Reality Inc. (CRI), a subsidiary of Coretronic Group (TWSE: 5371) specializing in AI and embedded system integration, today announced a strategic alliance with Phoenix Technologies, a global leader in embedded firmware solutions. Together, the companies have introduced the R6490WGQ System-on-Module (SOM), a next-generation platform featuring Phoenix’s UEFI BIOS. This high-performance, modular, and production-ready SOM is designed to meet the rapidly growing demands of the global AIoT and industrial computing markets.
Unveiled at Embedded World 2024, the R6490WGQ SOM is powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ QCS6490 processor. It features a 6nm octa-core architecture, an integrated AI engine, and support for 5G and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. The platform is optimized for a wide range of applications—including smart retail, machine vision, industrial PCs, and AIoT systems. With outstanding power efficiency, thermal performance, and support for leading operating systems such as Windows 11 IoT Enterprise, Android, Qualcomm Linux, and Ubuntu, the R6490WGQ offers exceptional flexibility across vertical markets.
To deliver a consistent, secure, and fast boot experience, CRI has adopted Phoenix Technologies’ customizable UEFI BIOS solution. Key features include Secure Boot, fast initialization, over-the-air firmware updates (FOTA), and industrial-grade configurability—enabling OEMs to accelerate development and deployment of embedded systems.
“Our R6490WGQ SOM platform integrated Phoenix’s UEFI BIOS seamlessly, delivering the boot speed, security, and long-term stability our industrial and AIoT customers expect,” said Nore Chen, General Manager of Coretronic Reality Inc. “We are excited to deepen our partnership with Phoenix and continue expanding our embedded solution portfolio.”
“We’re honored to be the trusted firmware partner behind CRI’s latest platform,” said Jim Mortensen, Senior VP Engineering at Phoenix Technologies. “Our UEFI BIOS enables fast, secure, and scalable boot performance tailored to the needs of modern embedded systems—this is core to our mission of supporting innovation in the embedded space.”
Building on this successful collaboration, CRI and Phoenix Technologies plan to extend UEFI BIOS integration to future Snapdragon X Series platforms to support the next generation of AI PCs and advanced edge computing. This will further reinforce CRI’s end-to-end product portfolio—from industrial IoT systems to intelligent endpoints. The R6490WGQ SOM featuring Phoenix Technologies’ UEFI BIOS is now officially available for global partners and customers for integration and evaluation.
