The iconic Taiwan sustainability award, “CommonWealth Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award”, is now in its 19th consecutive year, and recently announced the 2025 winners. Coretronic Corporation (5371.TW), a TPEx-listed company known for its excellence in sustainability, achieved another milestone by being honored with the award for the 14th consecutive year and ranking 18th in the manufacturing sector for the large enterprise category. The Company was also honored with the “CommonWealth Talent Sustainability Award” for the second consecutive year, showing its strong commitment and concrete achievements in sustainability transformation, talent development, and corporate governance.

In terms of corporate governance, Coretronic continues to enhance information quality and transparency while strengthening its internal governance mechanisms. In addition to engaging an independent third-party professional institution to conduct a board performance evaluation every three years, the Company also performs annual internal evaluations of the Board of Directors, individual board members, and each functional committee to ensure continuous improvement in governance effectiveness. Furthermore, the ESG Committee, chaired by the Chairman and represented by the CFO as a committee member and executive representative, reports annually to the Board on the Company’s sustainability progress. Material topics and the Sustainability Report are also submitted to the Board for approval, reinforcing board-level oversight of sustainability issues. To further integrate sustainability into business operations, Coretronic has officially included sustainability performance as one of the key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management since 2024. This measure ensures that sustainability principles are embedded in the core of decision-making and drives the organization toward long-term value creation and responsible governance.

In terms of supply management, the Company adopts the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct as its foundation. It requires suppliers to sign the “Sustainability Commitment Statement” to reinforce shared commitment to sustainable practices. Through its environmental management system and annual RBA audit mechanisms, the Company systematically evaluates suppliers’ environmental and social risks to ensure supply chain operations meet responsibility and compliance requirements. In addition, the Company hosts an Annual Supplier Conference. It promotes practical collaboration through initiatives such as the “Outstanding Supplier” recognition program, sustainability seminars, and collaborates with suppliers to promote “Waste Recycling and Reuse Programs”. These initiatives aim to build a more resilient and sustainable supply chain.

In terms of corporate commitment, Coretronic is dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and happy workplace. In addition to offering a wide range of online and in-person learning resources, the Company supports employees in planning their individual development paths. Moreover, the Company has also established the Core Research, appointing senior researchers to focus on technology development and the transfer of business and marketing expertise. Outstanding retired employees are invited to serve as consultants, ensuring the continuous infusion of knowledge and experience into the organization. As for employee care, Coretronic provides benefits that exceed legal requirements, including flexible working hours, 5 days of fully paid Golden Vacation Week leave, flexible leave for new hires, and annual health examinations. The Company also provides free electrocardiogram examinations and painless endoscopic screenings to targeted groups. Based on health-risk assessment results, the Company also arranges work suitability assessments and medical referrals for high-risk employees to reduce the incidence of chronic workplace-related diseases. Through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and a series of mental health courses, Coretronic helps employees manage stress, achieve work-life balance, and cultivate a physically and mentally healthy, safe, and supportive working environment.

In terms of social engagement, Coretronic has long collaborated with diverse stakeholders to implement six major public welfare programs, “Light Wishes for the Rural”, “Light Pioneer”, “Love Followers”, “Dream Walkers”, “Elderly Smile”, and “Farm the Hopes”, leveraging its core expertise to address pressing social issues. To narrow the digital divide between urban and rural communities, the Company continues its partnership with students from the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) and Papacode to organize the 6 sessions of “Future Light Camp 2.0”. The camp enables students to finish the 7th-grade to the first semester of 8th-grade programming curriculum ahead of time, and to complete two game programs collaboratively. In response to the increasing needs of the solitary elders, Coretronic focuses on material support, nutrition, and healthcare through three major Elderly Smile programs, “Warm Delivery”, “Warm Telehealth”, and “Warm Restaurant”. In addition, Coretronic collaborates with multiple social enterprises and NPOs to leverage technology in bridging the gap between rural communities and healthcare resources, addressing shortages in caregiving services and ensuring that elderly individuals receive comprehensive physical and mental support. The Company has also established a well-developed volunteer management system. In addition to hosting the Annual Volunteer Gathering, Volunteer Day, and various training programs and activities, Coretronic provides unlimited paid volunteer leave, encouraging employees to actively participate in charitable activities and collectively expand the Company’s social impact.

In terms of environmental sustainability, Coretronic announced its “Net Zero Commitment” in 2022, committing to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. In alignment with the SBT 1.5°C pathway, the Company has set carbon reduction targets to “reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 50.4% by 2032 from a 2021 base year, and reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 30% within the same timeframe”, which were officially validated by the SBTi in 2024. In addition, the Company actively participates in domestic and international climate initiatives. Coretronic has joined the “Taiwan Climate Partnership (TCP)” and the “Taiwan Alliance for Net Zero Emission (TANZE)”, has published its “Annual TCFD Report” for 2 consecutive years, and has responded to the CDP questionnaire for 6 consecutive years. In 2024, the Company achieved “A List” leadership level ratings in both the Climate Change and Water Security categories. Coretronic has also responded to the RE100 and EV100 initiatives, committing to “achieve 100% renewable energy usage by 2040”. The Company has installed 8 self-use solar power generation systems, and advance the energy transition through green power wheeling and the purchase of renewable energy certificates, steadily progressing toward its net-zero goal.
For its low-carbon products, the Company has established a “Sustainable Raw Material Policy”, prioritizing the use of materials with lower environmental impact and embedding low-carbon principles into product development and process design. Coretronic has also established clear strategies and quantitative targets for each stage of the product life cycle, and conducts both self-assessment and ISO 14067 product carbon footprint inventories. The Company has also built a product carbon footprint platform to analyze product emission structures. By increasing the use of low-carbon materials and optimizing design and process efficiency, the Company aims to enhance energy conservation and carbon reduction while strengthening the competitiveness of its products.

Looking ahead, Coretronic will continue to strengthen communication and collaboration with value chain partners to create shared, mutually beneficial, and long-term sustainability outcomes. The Company is committed to building comprehensive and sustainable partnerships that generate positive impacts for the environment and society.
