Coretronic Received Double A Ratings in CDP’s Climate Change and Water Security Questionnaires for the First Time
The CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) recently announced the assessment scores of companies that disclosed their environmental data to CDP in 2024. Coretronic (5371.TW) stood out among 22,400 companies and received an A rating in both Climate Change and Water Security questionnaires. Only 2% of the companies, including 9 from Taiwan, received this honor, demonstrating the effectiveness of their climate action and water resources management. This also proves the Company’s long-term commitment to and actions for sustainable development.
Facing the global trend toward net-zero, Coretronic proactively strengthens climate governance and implements climate adaptation actions. The Company has not only adopted the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework to systematically identify climate-related risks and opportunities regularly and integrate them into company operations, but also commits to “reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 50.4% by 2032 from a 2021 base year, and reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 30% within the same timeframe”. These targets were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2024. Compared to 2021, emissions in 2023 have been reduced by 42%, exceeding the expected net-zero pathway and demonstrating the company’s efforts toward the 2050 net-zero goal. Furthermore, the Company has responded to the RE100 initiative, pledging to achieve 100% renewable energy use by 2040. As of 2024, the Company has installed 8 self-use solar power generation systems and procured renewable energy through green power wheeling and renewable energy certificates, achieving a 16% renewable energy usage rate by 2023. On the other hand, although Coretronic is not a major water user and does not require water in its manufacturing processes, it has nonetheless established a water resource management strategy, implementing water-saving and recycling measures to reduce environmental impact. In 2023, the company's water consumption decreased by 17% compared to 2022, demonstrating the effectiveness of its water resource management efforts.
Coretronic will continue deepening the 4G Force strategies (including “Green Products”, “Green Supply Chain”, “Green Manufacturing”, and “Green Living”), strengthening the green transformation, and working with supply chain partners and international climate action advocates to promote decarbonization for the industry. In addition, Coretronic aims to effectively mitigate the impacts of climate change by technological innovation and comprehensive sustainability strategies to enhance corporate climate resilience and create long-term value toward a sustainable and competitive net-zero future.
