HUD (Head-Up Display)

HUD - Head-Up Display is a system showing automobile instant information like car speed, navigation and so on right above the dashboard. For the sake of safety, HUD can help drivers concentrate on right ahead view and grasp the instant driving information at the same time. With this device the risk of car accident due to drivers’ head-down checking car information could be reduced.

A lot of research and development has primarily gone into optimizing the picture generating unit (PGU), consisting of a heat sink, LED matrix, and TFT color display and backlight. The follow-up solution for PGU has already reached 3.1˝ and 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Needs more power than currently 1.8’’. During optimization, the existing 1.8˝ PGU has not only seen its performance improve – it is now more efficient as well. Compared to the first generation, 10 watts of electrical power are needed for a currently backlight , due to collimated backlight technology can make high power efficiency and reduce electrical power to 5 watts.

The PGU is using one 1.8"LCD instead of traditional DLP with advantages of cost and power-saving. Integrated with specific optical lens (combiner), the virtual image projected can reach 1.2~5 meters in distance and 5~10 inches in dimension.
